Mother's Day 2023*

We at Everlasting Covenant have always experienced wonders and miracles on Mother's Day. Couples having trouble conceiving children found that God opened the womb, and they were able to have children. The connection between mothers and miracles is written of in Scripture. Even after the fall of man, this special purpose of women was clearly spoken: "And Adam called his wife's name Eve, because she was the mother of all living." (Gen. 3:20). The Hebrew word for "Eve", which is hava, means "life, living, life-giver", and the individual pictographic Hebrew letters of hava have the meaning, "Behold the bond, the protector, the inner room". Women are bonded to the life they bring forth in a strong way. They are protective of that life, and "the inner room" associated with the letters of this word can relate to the womb, the inner chamber of life. This is a powerful purpose, to be the life-giver, and protector of all living. Now, however, this God-created purpose of women has been devalued by our society. There is an account in Scripture where the king of Israel, Solomon, having been gifted by God with wisdom, discernment and understanding in order to rule God's people rightly (1 Kings 3:9-14), must decide a dispute between two women, each claiming to be the rightful mother of a baby. Both mothers lived in the same household and had given birth within 3 days of each other. The baby of the second woman to give birth died, and she took the baby of the first woman while she was sleeping, and replaced that living child with her dead child. The first mother said to the king: "And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear." (v. 16-21). A true mother knows her own child. When confronted, the second woman claimed that the living child was hers. The king considered the matter, and said: "...Bring me a sword...Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other. Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels (womb) yearned (heated) upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it." (v. 22-26). The real mother of the living child would do anything to protect and save its life, while the lying mother agreed to have the child cut in half (v. 26). By this, the king was able to determine who the true mother of the living child was, and all Israel marvelled at the wisdom of God that had been given to the king. (v. 27-28). Not only did all of Israel acknowledge the wisdom of Solomon in his decision, but the whole world knows this account of the wisdom of Solomon. The king identified the true mother of the living child from her protective nature. True mothers are life-givers, not life-takers. In Proverbs 31, a mother is prophesying to her son, the king. What is fit behavior for a king, and what kind of wife should the king seek? What kind of mother should she be? The wife of this king should be virtuous, making her more valuable than rubies, the rarest and most costly of the precious gems. He can trust her, as she always seeks to do him good and not evil. This wife's vision is not limited to her own household and to the present, but is expanded to include rich fields, and fruitful vineyards that will yield into the future. She is diligent, not only for her own household, but for the poor and needy as well. She and her family are clothed in the fabric of royalty and salvation (crimson). Her clothing is not just outer garments, but they reflect her inner character of wisdom and the kindness of the law. Because of her excellence, and the excellence of her household, her husband is given equal honor and position of authority as men older than himself would normally receive. Both her husband and children know and acknowledge that she is a woman of excellence in every way. This woman is of such an excellent spirit, impacting her whole household and community, because: "Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates." (v. 30-31). The life-giving, protective, and impactful spirit of motherhood is based upon a kind of spiritual motherhood in heaven. It is the mother that gave birth to all who believe: "But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath a husband. Now we, brethren, as Isaac was , are the children of promise." (Gal. 4:26-28). This is the prophetic promise given to us from our mother, Jerusalem that is above. Although anti-Semitism, and other forms of ethnic and racial hatred are proliferating today, Scripture tells us that all the people of the earth came forth from one blood, and from the eight souls that survived the flood in the ark. Our mother is the Jewish city of heaven, even as our Messiah, Jesus, is a Jewish Messiah. Mother's Day 2022*

We, at Everlasting Covenant have always had very special Mother's Days. God worked, and still works, many miracles through, and on behalf of, mothers. The first mention of "mother" is found in Genesis: "And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living." (Gen. 3:20). The three pictographic Hebrew letters that make up the name "Eve" mean fence, peg, covenant: or protection, secure, unbreakable promise. The root word meaning is "to breathe, bring forth (declare or show)". God breathed into Adam's nostrils to create a living soul. The mother is the bond of the family, who fences and secures it. The woman gives life, and Yeshua, Jesus, is called "a life-giving Spirit (1 Cor. 15:45). Later, we see that Jacob's first wife, Leah, although she was unloved, bore children, while Rachel, Jaacob's much-loved second wife, was barren (Gen. 29:31). However, as Rachel cried to the LORD, He heard and answered her: "And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb." (Gen. 30:22). God is the One who opens the womb. We believers in Christ have been called to bring forth spiritual life in the earth. It is the seed of the Word that we plant. God brought forth living things whose seed was in itself, according to Genesis. The man has seed, but the woman is necessary to bring it forth. Society and so-called science are trying to change this rule of creation in these last days. It is God's creative will, however, concerning His people: "Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle." (Deut. 7:14). Male and female created He them, although the world says differently. It was considered a reproach among men when a woman could not bear children, although the LORD said that barrenness could be present in either the male or female. Faced with this reproach for years, a priest's wife, Elizabeth, who was barren, conceived a child in her old age, who would be John the Baptist. Elizabeth had known that it was the Lord who had dealt with her (Lk. 1:24-25, 36). Six months later, the angel Gabriel would inform Mary, an unmarried virgin, that she also, like her cousin Elizabeth, would conceive a child. Even though her circumstances would speak otherwise, the angel assured her that the Holy Spirit would come upon her, and the power of the Highest would overshadow her, and she would conceive as a result. The holy thing born, the angel said, would be called the Son of God (Lk. 1:35). The Holy Spirit gives us the power to conceive and bring forth life, both physical and spiritual life. After His resurrection, Jesus stood in the midst of His disciples, and began to open their understanding of the Law of Moses, the prophets, and the Psalms, which He had fulfilled with His suffering and resurrection. He further instructed them, because they were witnesses to these things, to preach repentance and the remission of sins to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem (Lk. 24:44-47). Jesus added: "And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be indued with power from on high." (v. 49). The prophet Daniel also wrote about the people who know their God and do great exploits. Of this same truth, the Apostle Peter wrote of the divine power that has given us all things pertaining to life and godliness. This same divine power, according to the precious promises which God has given us, enables us to be partakers of the divine nature. About the importance of having the characteristics of this divine nature he wrote: "...if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Peter 1:1-8, excerpt). Everything concerning our walk of faith incorporates the fruitfulness of motherhood: "...Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren, that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath a husband." (Gal. 4:26-27, see also Isa. 54:1). The fruitfulness associated with motherhood is such a foundational truth that even evil powers steal it to spread wickedness in the earth, and in the spirit. One of the powers of wickedness in the end times is called the Whore of Babylon, who will be subjected to the judgment of God. She encompasses such a large territory that she is described as sitting upon many waters, or peoples. She has committed fornication with kings, and all of the inhabitants of the earth have gotten drunk on the wine she has given to them. The scarlet colored beast that she sits upon is full of blasphemies. She is arrayed like royalty in purple and scarlet, and adorned in wealth with gold and precious jewels. She holds a cup in her hand "full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH." (Rev. 17:1-5). She is a mother of harlots like herself, so she will bear fruit, although it is wicked fruit, and abominations. The drunkenness associated with her and those who partake with her, is not the drunkenness of wine as we know it, but it is drunkenness with the blood of the saints, and their martyrdom. She is associated with a city that sits upon seven hills. Those who wonder (with admiration) at her and the beast from the pit that she rides upon, are those "whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is." (v. 8). The kings who are given power to rule by the Beast will make war against the Lamb, the King of Kings, and those with Him, but He shall overcome them (v. 13-14). The people and nations who are under the power of the Beast spoken of, accomplish God's purpose, whether they know it or not: "For God hath put in their hearts to fulfill his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled." (v. 17). It is time for the Chruch to bring forth godly fruit and life, by the power of the Holy Spirit, given to those who believe Christ and will receive the Spirit promised by God. Church traditions, and the traditions and doctrines of men, don't bring forth that kind of life, but only the Life-Giving Spirit, Jesus. Mothers and Life*

 

Mother's Day has always been a special day to this ministry. We have seen the birth of miracle babies from the anointing present on Mother's Day.

Mothers play a huge role in our lives. Many can testify that they were saved through the faithful prayers of their mothers and grandmothers. We cannot underestimate the influence in our lives of mothers.

There is a special connection, both spiritually and naturally, between mothers and life. After the fall of man, even before children were born, the woman was identified as having this special purpose:

"And Adam called his wife's name Eve (chavvah: life, living, life-giver; root: to be restored to life; revive (from sickness, discouragement, death); because she was the mother of all living."  Gen 3:20

As we can see from the meaning of Eve's name, not only is it associated with life-giving, but with revival, even resurrection. Only women can bring forth life. There are many instances in scripture of God miraculously bringing forth life through a woman, even when it would seem impossible (Gen. 18:9-15).

Most societies throughout history have been patriarchal, but a few, including Native Americans, have had a matriarchal society. These matriarchal societies understood the life-giving purpose of women, which also indicated to them a woman's special relationship with God. The special life-giving and life-changing relationship a mother has with her child is reflective of the life-giving relationship that the Father has with His children, and that which His Son, Jesus has with all living:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."  Jn. 1:1-5

"Life" described above as originating in Christ is the Greek word "zoe". It means "life, the absolute fullness of life...which belongs to God; life, real and genuine, active and vigorous, devoted to God, blessed...those who put their trust in Christ, including the more perfect everlasting body attained after resurrection". This kind of life cannot be overtaken by darkness. Again, as with the Hebrew meaning of the name "Eve", the concept of life is associated with present life, revived spiritual life, and resurrection life. And both, therefore, must be directly associated with God and Christ. It is the LORD who "maketh alive", even from the grave (1 Sam. 2:6), and it is the woman who is called "the life giver".

Scripture makes clear the concept of the new life found in Christ, a resurrection life, "zoe" life, even while we are still living in the world.

"...Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?...so many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death...like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in the newness of life...in the likeness of his resurrection."  Rom. 6:1-5

The kind of life, both through the woman, Eve, and through the work of Christ in us, which is revived, resurrection life, carries with it the quality of separation from sin. The kind of "zoe" life spoken of here is not compatible, nor co-existent, with sin, which is death (Rom. 6:21-23). This kind of life causes us to be freed from sin, becoming servants of righteousness, bearing fruit unto holiness and everlasting life (v. 18, 22).

Considering this connection that exists between the life-giving, life-reviving, life-changing purpose in a mother's identity, and the original life-giving, life-reviving, and life-changing power in God and Christ, mothers have a special responsibility in prayer, especially in these times in which we are living. Pray for this nation to humble itself, repent, and turn back to God (2 Chron. 7:14). Pray for the men. Pray for the children. Let an army of life-givers, mothers, be raised up to fulfill this purpose.

Our Alma Mater*

 

This weekend was Mother's Day. Important to know for this related discussion today is an interesting term used to refer to the university that educated us, which is our "Alma Mater". This term literally means, "nourishing, dear, bountiful mother, of a mother". As believers, we have this kind of "alma mater" also, as we will see.

If you have a "Mother's Day" for remembering and honoring the mother who raised you, you are keeping the command of the LORD when He said, "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you." (Ex. 20:12). Honoring mother and father has a long term effect and blessing upon your life, according to this commandment.

However, we also have a mother whom we often neglect to remember and honor. From this mother, our "alma mater", came all that we know about God. Our Heavenly Father describes Himself as married to Israel (Isa. 54:5-8, Jer. 31:31-33, Hos. 2:7), so if Israel is our Father's wife, then she is our mother as well. This mother, even in the face of persecution to death, kept the oracles of God for us, the future generations that she did not yet know, and could not even imagine:

"What advantage then has the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision? Much in every way! Chiefly because to them were committed the oracles (logion- the words or utterances of God: Root word = logos: a word uttered by a living voice, the sayings of God) of God."

Because of the faithful dedication of our mother to this commission to keep these oracles of God, other nations recognize the unique relationship that our mother, and consequently we, have with God (Deut. 4:4-8). Not only did our mother keep the oracles in the form of the Old Testament, but in the writing and keeping of the New Testament. The New Covenant, was prophetically revealed to her and planted within her as a seed of promise (Jer. 31:31). And when the time came, our spiritual mother, the Jews, kept and delivered to us the new oracles of God for us, as well. The importance of the Word in our faith, and in our salvation cannot be overstated, and Jews gave us this. Scripture describes the two branches, Ephraim and Judah, becoming one in His hand. They cannot remain divided.

Our mother, the Jewish people, kept the oracles of God, and she birthed in faith the Son of God, and consequently the rest of us. In the Book of Revelation, this dedicated and faithful mother is described:

"...the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born. She bore a male child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and His throne...Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast down to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the Child. But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time from the presence of the serpent...And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ."  Rev. 12:4-17 (excerpt)
We saw an example of this protection of God recently in the headlines, as Israel was bombarded by 600 rockets. While their natural military defenses called "the iron dome" failed and allowed the missiles to enter, God covered and provided miraculous protection.

With the sacrificial heart of a mother, Israel and the Jewish people received spiritual blindness so that we might be able receive the good news of salvation. They gave up their knowledge of the Messiah for a time specified by God. We may think that this blindness was not chosen by them, but their prophets told them beforehand that it was by the word and will of God (Isa. 6:9-13). Would we have been willing to give up our salvation so that others might receive it? Paul told us that their blindness and falling was for our benefit (Rom. 11:8-11). However, as keepers of the oracles of God, our mother, the Jews, also knew that God promised that all Israel will be saved (Rom. 11:26-27, Isa. 59:19-21). As a mother nurtures hope in her heart for future days, our spiritual mother keeps hope in that promise of God. Shouldn't we also sacrifice - at least in a prayer of agreement with her hopes in the Word of God? It is indeed the least we can do for "Mom".

We cannot and must not separate ourselves from the mother who gave birth to us, who nurtured us diligently, and still provides the daily bread that feeds our souls. Paul makes clear that our roots are Jewish, as he defines the Jew not solely by a physical identity, but as one who is circumcised in the heart (Rom. 2:28-29). As we see with Abraham, Moses, and so many others in scripture, without the faithful obedience of these many generations of Jews, we would not have had the blessing that we walk in today. In Romans 11, Paul describes our Jewish parent this way:

...as life from the dead (v. 15)

...as a holy root (v. 16)

...as the root that supports us (v. 18)

...concerning the election, ... as beloved for the sake of the fathers (v. 28)

We became partakers of this root and fatness of our mother who is described as an olive tree (v. 17). As Proverbs 23:22 says, "Listen to your father who begot you, and do not despise (hold as insignificant, disrespect) your mother when she is old." 
We should never become haughty children, believing we are now superior to the one who mothered us, or in thinking that we have surpassed her in understanding, and are now no longer in need of her (Rom. 11:20).

This Mother's Day, as we honor our natural mothers, let us also honor our spiritual mother, the Jews, who sacrificed so much on our behalf. Let's not ignore or neglect our relationship with her any longer. God promised her that her children would be returned to her (Isa. 49:22-23). This is not only the return of her natural children, but also the joyous return of her spiritual children, "the rest of her offspring... who have the testimony of Jesus Christ." Without "mother", we wouldn't be here. Without "mother", we wouldn't have found our salvation, our joy, our hope, and our eternal future.
Pray for the lost sheep of Israel. Pray for Jerusalem. Pray for our "alma mater", our nourishing, dear, bountiful spiritual mother, Israel and the Jewish people.

Mother's Day 2018

 

Mother's Day for our ministry has always been a special day. It is not only a day to bring forth the truth in God's Word regarding mothers and families, but also to believe and pray for those who wish to conceive a child. Many miracle children have come forth from this special Mother's Day ministry.

The importance of mothers can be found even in the beginning of scripture:

"And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living. Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them. And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat and live for ever: Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden...and he (God) placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life."   Gen 3:20-24

Adam called his wife "Eve" (Chavvah- life, living, life giver)., and "the mother (am-as the bond of the family) of all living (chay- to live)". Adam and his wife were forced from the garden in order to keep him from having access to the tree of life. It was not God's intention to give immortality to sin and its effect: death. However, God would not let them leave without his promise. Eve, though cast with her husband from the garden, would carry within her a promise of access once again to the tree of life. From her would come the miraculous seed (it is only men who produce seed) that would bring forth Messiah, the Resurrection, and the Life. It was that Word of prophetic promise that became the seed of the woman. Her seed would be born to bruise the head of the serpent who fathered the lie which questioned God's Word to man (Gen 3:15).

This tree of life is given to those who believe Christ. There is a condition placed upon access to it, though. Jesus spoke of this condition to the Church of Ephesus ("permitted"). To this church, the Lord had wonderful things to say, except for one thing:

"I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: and hast borne and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast labored, and hast not fainted. Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans ("conquer the laity"), which I also hate. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise (park, enclosed garden) of God."   Rev. 2:1-7

This church was doing so many things correctly, but there was an eternal life-giving force that was missing from all of their works, and all of their endurance in truth. That life-giving force, that "chay", pours forth from their first love (of Christ). This first love was their Tree of Life, from which they had grown apart.

So much of the church today has not been as faithful as the Church at Ephesus. They have, instead, compromised the truth of God's Word. They have followed after those false apostles and Nicolaitans who create doctrines in order to conquer the laity for their own greed. For those churches that have remained on the path of truth, patience, and the steadfast rejection of "them which are evil", have they forgotten their first love? If we repent and return to that first love, Jesus will give us to eat of that tree in the paradise of God.

That Tree of Life found in the paradise of God, which was always meant for our provision, is described for us:

"And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and of either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him. And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever."   Rev. 22:1-5

The Tree of Life, whether it is in the Garden of Eden, or in the paradise of God, grows from the first love that God has for us. The promise of access again to that Tree of Life was carried through the generations until Mary obediently and miraculously brought forth the Giver of Life, Jesus. This Tree of Life through Christ does not depend upon the seasons to bear fruit, nor the natural waters which can dry up, nor the sun to give it light.

Our access to this Tree of life and healing is given through our first love, as Jesus told the Church at Ephesus.

Revelation goes on to tell us in this chapter that Jesus is announcing to us repeatedly that He is coming quickly (v. 7, 12, 20). The Spirit and the Bride, and then those who hear, join together to agree and say to Jesus, "Come." (v. 17). The Bride's whole-hearted agreement with the Holy Spirit in our eagerness for Jesus to return to us, is the ultimate fruit of our first love. Then all who have thirst, whosoever will, may come to the water of life also and drink.

This Mother's Day comes with three challenges for those who are hearing this message:

Challenge 1- Repent, pray, and return to our first love.

Challenge 2- Determine not to be one who adds to, or takes away from, the Words of the Book (of life), as mentioned in Rev. 22 (v.18-19). Those who do so, will not partake in the Book of Life, nor the holy city, nor the promises found in the Book.

Challenge 3 (to mothers)- Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and the salvation of Israel. Pray that mothers will be life givers, and the bond of the family, and not life takers, as is so often found in our society today. Pray for those who desire to conceive, but have not been able to.

 

Heavenly Father, we do not desire to be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, by the washing of the water of the Word. Those of us who know You, desire to repent, and return to You, and to renew our commitment to our first love.

Father, let those who do not know You, and are hearing this message, be drawn by Your Spirit to discover if all of these things are true. Let them search the scriptures for themselves, and discover Your eternal truth and salvation for them in Jesus, Your Son, Who gave Himself for them.

Let those who desire to conceive, be blessed and touched by You. Let them know that the child they conceive is Your miracle answer to prayer. We ask these things in Jesus' name, Amen.
