The Final Generation*
All indications are that we may be the final generation before the return of Christ. It is important, therefore, for the Body of Christ to "light their lamps", and be about Kingdom business, and not about what's going on in the world. We will be looking at what that final generation will be seeing, and preparing, according to scripture. In the Book of Amos, the Word of the LORD to the prophet is: "Surely the LORD God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets." (Amos 3:7). The prophets of scripture have given us a clear view of the last days, or the latter times. We still need the prophets. There are prophets today, as well as apostles, given by God to prepare the Church, and to teach the Church the way to unity of faith, and perfection in Christ (Eph. 4). The prophet Amos also wrote that God intended to bring His people Israel back from among the nations, and to "raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen...I will raise up his ruins, and I will bind it as in the days of old." (Amos 9:9, 11, 14-15). Not only does the LORD promise to restore Israel and His tabernacle, but to insure that Israel will possess "the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by my name, saith the LORD that doeth this." (v.12). There are "heathens", or Gentiles, that the LORD revealed to Amos, that are also called by His name. We have seen Israel restored and blooming, and we have witnessed and experienced the LORD's call to the Gentiles as well. We will surely also see the building of the third temple in Israel. Items are being prepared now in Israel for the third temple. Jesus also spoke of the existence of a third temple when His disciples asked Him about the sign of His coming, and the end of the age: "When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place..." (Mt. 24:3, 15). Jesus was telling us that there is yet to be an abomination of desolation, other than the one which had previously taken place in history. There must be a temple in existence for the abomination to take place in the holy place, a chamber of the temple. Jesus continued in Mt. 24 to speak of a worldwide destruction that had never been seen before (v. 21-22). In this great tribulation, no flesh would survive unless God shortens the days for His elect's sake. We have never before seen in history until this generation the kind of weapons, a nuclear arsenal, that could cause this great of a mass destruction with the potential to end all life. Immediately after this event, there will be a shaking of the heavens - the sun and moon will be darkened, and stars will fall from the heavens (v. 29). Then the Son of man will be seen coming in the clouds of heaven. A great sound of a trumpet will be heard and the elect will be gathered from one end of heaven to another. (v. 30-31). Paul also wrote about the rapture, which is the gathering of the dead in Christ, and the yet living, to meet the LORD in the air. Because of the great sounding of a trumpet, this event could be associated with the Feast of Trumpets. This event could occur at any time. Then Christ connected these events with the sign of the budding of the fig tree, or Israel, which we have seen miraculously restored as a nation within our generation: "Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled." (v. 32-34). We are guaranteed of this promise because the Word of God does not pass away (v. 35). Jesus' instruction to us regarding the timing of these events: "Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come...Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as you think not the Son of man cometh." (v. 42-44). Although we may not know the hour of His return according to Jesus, we can know the day, and we can certainly know by the signs, the season of His return. Luke reported that Jesus said to watch for His return from the wedding, and to be ready to open the door immediately when He knocks. He blesses those who will keep watch for Him, even into the second or third watch of the night. Jesus assured Peter that His words here are for all who are found being faithful and wise stewards, who watch and keep their commitment to their Master's household - to feed them in due season (Lk. 12:35-42). Are we just professing Christ or are we being Christians in the manner of which Jesus spoke? The prophet Hosea also spoke of the timing of the second and third day: "Come and let us return unto the LORD...After two days he will revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight...and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth." (Hos. 6:1-3). Peter wrote that one day in the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years are as one day (2 Pet. 3:8). Considering this, we are finishing the second day (2000 years), and entering the third day (3,000 years) since that death and resurrection of Jesus. This should give us much to consider regarding the timing of Christ's return. Moses was commanded by God that His people should sanctify themselves and wash their clothes in order to be ready on the third day: "...for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai." (Ex. 19:10-11). Later in scripture, Queen Esther put on her royal robes and stood before her husband the King in his chamber on the third day (Est. 5:1). On the third day, there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee, which Jesus and His disciples attended. He performed there the miracle of turning water into the best wine of the wedding. When the disciples saw His first miracle, done on the third day, through which Jesus displayed His glory, they believed on Him (Jn. 2:1, 11). Here there was a third day marriage -the marriage of the Lamb has come! Peter wrote to those who would be the generation to see Christ's return. Though scoffers would come denying the approach of the judgment of God, Peter said to stir up our minds instead with the words of the prophets and the commandments of the apostles. The first judgment against the whole earth was achieved through the flooding by water. The next judgment against the whole earth through that same prophetic Word given to Noah, would be by fire. Although the Lord is longsuffering toward us because He doesn't desire any to perish, but for all to come to repentance, the day of the Lord will come as "a thief in the night", as Jesus also said. This sure prophetic Word of God should have an effect upon the manner of persons that we are to be, according to Peter. That manner should be: "...in all holy conversation and godliness, looking for and hastening unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat...". We should also be looking for the new heavens and the new earth of righteousness, and "...be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot , and blameless." (2 Peter 3:1-14). Considering the signs we are seeing, I believe that we are the generation that will see the return of the Lord. We should be preparing, praying and saying, "Maranatha; Come Lord Jesus", and praying for the promised harvest of salvation in Israel. The Most Sacred Day: Yom Kippur*
Of the three fall feasts of the LORD, the second, the Day of Atonement, or Yom Kippur, is the most solemn. The blood of atonement, Christ's own blood, sprinkled upon the Mercy Seat in heaven, is especially necessary to the Church and to this nation in these current times.
The prophets wrote of the blood of sprinkling, and it is also written about in Dr.Stevenson's book, "NAZAH: White Linen and the Blood of Sprinkling". The sounding of the shofar or trumpets during the fall feasts also have a prophetic warning and implication. The prophet Amos wrote, "Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it? Surely the LORD God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the LORD God hath spoken, who can but prophesy?" (Amos 3:6-8). The LORD is revealing something through His servants. Are we listening to the warning sound in the trumpets?
The LORD spoke through Jeremiah about sending prophets to reveal His secrets and warn His people of imminent danger, but His people ignored these prophetic warnings. This provoked the LORD to anger (Jer. 25:4-7). In America, also are ignoring the warnings being sent by God. We have turned away from Him and to the worship of other gods, although we may not recognize it as such. In New York City, there was a projection of the goddess Kali, who is associated with death, violence and sexuality, onto the Empire State Building, and New York also led the nation in legalizing late term abortions. The Church is looking for secular remedies in government and the courts, but there is only one remedy: a 2 Chron. 7:14 repentance and return to God.
The sprinkling of the atonement blood of the Lamb of God is something that is necessatry and vital to the people of God. Peter calls believers in Christ the "Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you and peace be multiplied." (1 Pet. 1:2). Peter also wrote regarding our salvation, that this salvation was revelaed to the prophets of old, althougb it was for a people to come (v. 10-12). The fulfillment of the prophesied salvation was and is revealed for these last times (v. 5).
One of the prophets to whom the LORD revealed His secret of salvation for a future time is the prophet Isaiah. In Chapters 52 and 53, Isaiah clearley writes about God's servant who gives His life for the sins of many. Isaiah also writes in this regard of the blood of sprinkling, "Behold, my servant, shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high. As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men: So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard, shall they consider. Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? (Isa. 52:13-15, 53:1). The prophet asked the question, "Will you believe this report?" Isaiah goes on to say, "But he was wounded for our trasgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we were healed." (53:5). Isaiah 52:15 also witnesses to the Shroud of Turin as something kings would be able to see and consider, although no one told them of it.
The Book of Hebrews is the Word of God written to Christians concerning the Day of Atonement and its meaning in Christ to believers. Hebrews says, "But Christ being come a high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building, neither by the blood of goats and calves but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of a heifer spinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternl inheritnce." (Heb. 9:11-15). Thw writer of Hebrews reminds us that almost all things by the law are purged (cleaned) with the sprinkling of blood, for without shedding of blood there is no remission (v. 21-22).
Again, there is also a prophetic warning connected with the sprinkling of the blood of atonement. From the Book of Hebrews again, "And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. See that ye refuse not him that speaketh: for if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire." (Heb. 12:24-29). The blood of sprinkling is speaking, and we are not to refuse what it is saying. There was a previous shaking, and there will be a greter shaking to come, so that all that may be left are the unmoveable things of the Kingdom of God. God is a consuming fire, and the next judgment will not be by water, but by fire. Are you repenting? The Kingdom of God is at hand. This is the message of the blood of sprinkling, and this is the message of the prophets and servants of God.
There is yet a prophetic Word regarding the spinkling of the blood of atonement that we shall see fulfilled. It is from the prophet Zechariah, "And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn...In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness." (Zech. 12:10, 13:1). The blood of sprinkling is still prophesying.

Believe HIS Prophets*
King Jehoshaphat declared to Judah, "Believe in the LORD your God, so shall you be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper." (2 Chron. 20:20). It is especially important now, in the times in which we are living and during this pandemic, to listen to the prophets. The prophet Amos wrote:
"Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it? Surely the LORD God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the LORD hath spoken, who can but prophesy? Amos 3:6-8
How far we have come away from God's Word, and our understanding of the vital importance of His prophets and His prophecies! Sometimes we miss the prophetic because we don't recognize the package it is coming in. For example, there is much prophetic significance in the Books of the Apocrypha concerning the Messiah, but because of where they are found, we are not familiar with them, or discount them. In another example, secular songs have been written that have prophetic significance:

Jesus compared the coming of the Son of man to the conditions and warning given during the days of Noah, giving that scriptural account prophetic significance for our time (Mt. 24:35-42). The response to Noah in that day was an example of how people often respond to the prophetic today - they ignore it or do not see its significance. The people of Noah's time ignored the prophetic warning until the flood carried them away. There will be those upon the coming of the Lord who will be carried away by calamity, as in the flood. However, in the midst of great and universal wickedness, Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD (Gen. 6:5-8). Jesus concluded by saying, "Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come."
The grace that Noah found in the eyes of the Lord was also a prophetic picture of the foundation upon which the new covenant would be established forever, in the grace found through Yeshua, Jesus.
The apostle Peter exhorted his readers to be mindful, to take heed, of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and also now by the apostles. The same (prophetic) words which spoke of the unrighteous in the world having been flooded with water, continues and has created a store of fire this time in the earth for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men- fervent heat that melts the elements and the works of man. God is only holding off from this fiery destruction in His patience to allow as much time and opportunity as possible for men's repentance. Knowing this prophetic warning is still active, this knowledge should mold how we believers continue in our character, expectations and outlooks: "...what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness...?" (2 Pet. 3). As Peter mentioned in his epistle, the apostle Paul wrote similarly of the Lord revealed from heaven in flaming fire, taking vengeance on those who don't know God, and refuse to obey the gospel of Christ. His presence and glory will punish with an everlasting destruction. Christ will be glorified in those who do believe His Word and promise. We are to be worthy of this calling of faith in Him who saves us, and "fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power." (2 Thess. 1:7-12). The apostles of today are likewise bringing forth the same prophetic warnings to the Body of Christ for this same purpose, that we would be shaped and conformed in this fullness (Eph. 4:11-13).
As prophesied, there are many false prophets and teachers who come to bring a contrary word, driven by covetousness, twisting the scriptures in order to make profit off of those who clamor to hear lies and false assurances (2 Pet. 2:1-3, 3:17). But the genuine word of prophecy which we have received, and are now receiving from the true apostles, prophets and teachers, is a sure word of prophecy, because it does not come from the will and interpretation of men, "but holy men of God (who) spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." (2 Pet. 1:19-21).
By these precious prophetic words originated in the Holy Spirit, we are conformed, not to this world, but transformed by the renewing of our minds, minds washed in the truth of the Word of God, becoming blameless and without spot, growing in the grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (2 Pet. 3:14-18).

Two Plus Two
This is a message for a "mess"-"age". It is a time to go back to some simplicity. The Church has been distracted and led away in different doctrines, even false doctrines that are meant to divert the Church from the simple, pure truth of the gospel. Paul wrote of this same problem to the Church of Corinth:
"...I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty (craftiness, cunning; a specious or false wisdom), so your minds should be corrupted (to shrivel or wither; to lead away a Christian church from the state of knowledge and holiness in which it ought to abide) from the simplicity (singleness, simplicity, mental honesty; the virtue of one who is free from pretense and hypocrisy) that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him." 2 Cor. 11:2-4
Paul felt that the spiritual condition of the church was such that although they had received the true gospel from him, it was just as likely that they would receive, and had received, a false gospel from someone else, straying from the simple truth in Christ, and following after beguiling but false wisdom presented by someone or something else.
Paul was not presenting a false gospel to the church, but the true (v. 31) gospel of Christ as first foreseen and prophesied by the prophets of God. God remained faithful to that prophetic word, and remains faithful to the simple truth in Christ. The prophet Amos wrote:
"Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it? Surely the LORD God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the LORD God hath spoken, who can but prophesy?" Amos 3:6-8
If a lion by his roar can clearly communicate his intent to us, that we can easily interpret as danger, do we think that God has difficulty communicating His plans and purposes beforehand through prophetic? Who can but prophesy? As we speak His Word, we prophesy. His prophets lined up their words with God's word to them by the Holy Spirit. This is homologea- "speaking the same as". Paul urged all believers that they should covet one thing- they should covet to prophesy. In fact, the gift of prophecy will discern and affirm the truth of the simple gospel Paul preached (1 Cor. 14:37-40). We can't help but prophesy when we line up our words with the Word of God: homologea. Jesus, the Word of God become flesh, is the Spirit of prophecy (Rev. 19:10). It is as simple as 2 + 2. Are we "speaking the same as" the Word of God, or are we coming up with another Gospel?
Peter wrote insisting that the gospel of Christ was delivered by eye witnesses who saw and heard everything pertaining to Christ in their association with Him. The Christian faith, he wrote, was not based on fables of men, but on these eyewitness accounts (2 Pet. 1:16-18). Not only is the gospel based on these eye witness accounts, but as a fulfillment of the words of the prophets:
"We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well to take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts. Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." 2 Pet. 1:19-21
Many events in scripture and in the current events of today were and are defined and shaped by prophecy.
When Jesus miraculously raised Lazarus four days after that man's death, the religious leaders were afraid of what the Romans would do to their nation if the people accepted Jesus as their Messiah (Jn. 11:38-48). They counseled together to consider the problem. The High Priest prophesied, reminding the counsel that it had been prophesied that one man should die for the sake of the nation, as well as for those scattered abroad (Jn. 11:49-53, Isa. 49:5-7). This is when they began to seek Jesus' death.
The timing and completion of end time events also, as prophesied in the Book of Revelation, has been set according to when "the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets", and saying, "that there should be time no longer." (Rev. 10:5-7).
One false doctrine that has caused many corruptions in the Church is "Replacement Theology". This doctrine contends that the Church has replaced Israel, and that this replacing Church will transform the world for the return of Jesus. This is not part of the simple gospel in Christ, nor does it line up with the prophetic word, as we see next.
Miracle working spirits of devils will beguile the kings of nations into a great battle against Israel in the place called in Hebrew, "Armageddon", a place in northern Israel, whose name means "to invade, cut into, attack, gather in troops or crowds" (Rev. 16:14-16). These devils will prophesy through the false prophet (v. 13), resulting in a great voice out of the temple of the LORD in heaven saying, "It is done." (v. 17). Israel is still the time-clock of end time events, as the prophets spoke. Ezekiel clearly prophesied the role of physical Israel in this coming battle. Even as Ezekiel prophesied in detail, we now see the coming together of the nations against Israel as prophesied by him, Including Russia, Persia or Iran, Ethiopia, Libya, Turkey and parts of Europe, to take place in "the latter years" after Israel has once again been returned to the land, having been brought forth out of the nations (Ezek. 38:1-8).
Again, prophetic timing is tied directly to the physical nation of Israel. The Church does not replace Israel.
According to prophecy and the Word of God, the Church will not make the world perfect in preparation for the return of Jesus.On the contrary, Peter prophesies in homologea: by lining up with the prophetic Word of God, that false prophets and false teachers will come among the Church causing great harm (see 2 Pet. 2:1-15).
The simplicity of the gospel in Christ is not a fable created by men, but a fulfillment of the prophetic word established by God through His prophets. It is not to be obscured, compromised, or corrupted by the false wisdom of beguiling men or spirits. It is to stay as simple in truth as 2 + 2.

"...I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty (craftiness, cunning; a specious or false wisdom), so your minds should be corrupted (to shrivel or wither; to lead away a Christian church from the state of knowledge and holiness in which it ought to abide) from the simplicity (singleness, simplicity, mental honesty; the virtue of one who is free from pretense and hypocrisy) that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him." 2 Cor. 11:2-4
Paul felt that the spiritual condition of the church was such that although they had received the true gospel from him, it was just as likely that they would receive, and had received, a false gospel from someone else, straying from the simple truth in Christ, and following after beguiling but false wisdom presented by someone or something else.
Paul was not presenting a false gospel to the church, but the true (v. 31) gospel of Christ as first foreseen and prophesied by the prophets of God. God remained faithful to that prophetic word, and remains faithful to the simple truth in Christ. The prophet Amos wrote:
"Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it? Surely the LORD God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the LORD God hath spoken, who can but prophesy?" Amos 3:6-8
If a lion by his roar can clearly communicate his intent to us, that we can easily interpret as danger, do we think that God has difficulty communicating His plans and purposes beforehand through prophetic? Who can but prophesy? As we speak His Word, we prophesy. His prophets lined up their words with God's word to them by the Holy Spirit. This is homologea- "speaking the same as". Paul urged all believers that they should covet one thing- they should covet to prophesy. In fact, the gift of prophecy will discern and affirm the truth of the simple gospel Paul preached (1 Cor. 14:37-40). We can't help but prophesy when we line up our words with the Word of God: homologea. Jesus, the Word of God become flesh, is the Spirit of prophecy (Rev. 19:10). It is as simple as 2 + 2. Are we "speaking the same as" the Word of God, or are we coming up with another Gospel?
Peter wrote insisting that the gospel of Christ was delivered by eye witnesses who saw and heard everything pertaining to Christ in their association with Him. The Christian faith, he wrote, was not based on fables of men, but on these eyewitness accounts (2 Pet. 1:16-18). Not only is the gospel based on these eye witness accounts, but as a fulfillment of the words of the prophets:
"We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well to take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts. Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." 2 Pet. 1:19-21
Many events in scripture and in the current events of today were and are defined and shaped by prophecy.
When Jesus miraculously raised Lazarus four days after that man's death, the religious leaders were afraid of what the Romans would do to their nation if the people accepted Jesus as their Messiah (Jn. 11:38-48). They counseled together to consider the problem. The High Priest prophesied, reminding the counsel that it had been prophesied that one man should die for the sake of the nation, as well as for those scattered abroad (Jn. 11:49-53, Isa. 49:5-7). This is when they began to seek Jesus' death.
The timing and completion of end time events also, as prophesied in the Book of Revelation, has been set according to when "the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets", and saying, "that there should be time no longer." (Rev. 10:5-7).
One false doctrine that has caused many corruptions in the Church is "Replacement Theology". This doctrine contends that the Church has replaced Israel, and that this replacing Church will transform the world for the return of Jesus. This is not part of the simple gospel in Christ, nor does it line up with the prophetic word, as we see next.
Miracle working spirits of devils will beguile the kings of nations into a great battle against Israel in the place called in Hebrew, "Armageddon", a place in northern Israel, whose name means "to invade, cut into, attack, gather in troops or crowds" (Rev. 16:14-16). These devils will prophesy through the false prophet (v. 13), resulting in a great voice out of the temple of the LORD in heaven saying, "It is done." (v. 17). Israel is still the time-clock of end time events, as the prophets spoke. Ezekiel clearly prophesied the role of physical Israel in this coming battle. Even as Ezekiel prophesied in detail, we now see the coming together of the nations against Israel as prophesied by him, Including Russia, Persia or Iran, Ethiopia, Libya, Turkey and parts of Europe, to take place in "the latter years" after Israel has once again been returned to the land, having been brought forth out of the nations (Ezek. 38:1-8).
Again, prophetic timing is tied directly to the physical nation of Israel. The Church does not replace Israel.
According to prophecy and the Word of God, the Church will not make the world perfect in preparation for the return of Jesus.On the contrary, Peter prophesies in homologea: by lining up with the prophetic Word of God, that false prophets and false teachers will come among the Church causing great harm (see 2 Pet. 2:1-15).
The simplicity of the gospel in Christ is not a fable created by men, but a fulfillment of the prophetic word established by God through His prophets. It is not to be obscured, compromised, or corrupted by the false wisdom of beguiling men or spirits. It is to stay as simple in truth as 2 + 2.

Being Ready*
Last week, we discussed the truth vs. the lie, and how these things relate to the return of Christ, and the day of the Lord. Let's see what the prophets have to say concerning these events, and how we should be preparing ourselves for them:
"Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it? Surely the LORD God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the LORD God hath spoken, who can but prophecy?" Amos 3:6-8
The prophetic word of God is like a trumpet sounding an alert, like a lion giving his warning roar. It requires a reaction from us. A wise man takes these warnings seriously, and reacts accordingly. The LORD announces these warnings so that those who will give heed to them will have knowledge and become prepared.
In Revelation, as the Seven Vials of Wrath are released by the angels, a warning is given:
"Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame." Rev. 16:15
We are now in the period of tribulation spoken of in the word of God. Christians are persecuted, even to death in some places, and are blamed for everything. This is the time when God warns His people to be watching. It is not the time to be distracted by worldly things, or fleshly concerns. The warning in the Gospel of Luke says:
"Take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overtaken...and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare it shall come upon all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man."
Lk. 21:34-36
We are to be watching for the day, praying, and keeping our hearts unblemished in His righteousness. It is not our own righteousness that keeps us, but Christ's righteousness, paid for each one of us in His own blood. We are to keep our hearts, and our spiritual garments in this saving righteousness. It is a righteousness that does not compromise truth, and does not compromise with sin and death.
The day of the return of Christ has not yet occurred. At His coming, the dead in Christ are raised first, and then we who are still alive join them and Christ (1 Thess. 4:16-17). Paul warned the Church not to be ignorant. There are conditions and events which precede Christ's return. Paul delivered the word of the Lord regarding this event:
"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition. Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God." 2 Thess. 2:1-4 (excerpt)
The first event that precedes the coming of Christ is a "falling away". This is the Greek word, apostasea, meaning "defection from truth". As we discovered last week, the lie that deceives man, and separates him from God and truth, questions and challenges everything in God's word. We have seen this condition today like never before. Even in the Church, apostasea is taking its toll. According to statistics, in 1972, 16% of Americans in mainstream denominations described themselves as evangelical Christians. By 1977, that number increased to 24%, and again, by 1993, the number increased to 30%, approximately one in three Americans. However, as of today's figures, that number has dropped to 24%, only 10% of whom identify themselves with a mainstream denomination. In 1972, those who then described themselves as either atheist or agnostic were 5%. Now that figure has increased to 24%. The numbers show that fewer are believing, and more are becoming unbelievers. We see daily the manifestation of these statistics in our culture, as secular humanism**, even the perverse, the demonic, and the repudiators of Christ gain more and more influence, even over our children, which has always been their declared goal. The Church seeks "peace" in this turmoil by compromising truth, and the wicked are justified for a reward. Evil is called good, and good, evil. Hell is enlarged, and scoffers jeer at the idea of God intervening in judgment. The LORD is angry with His own people as they deny the truth, and accept the lie, and are taken in captivity because of it, but His hand is stretched out still to them. Never doubt, "... the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness." (Isa. 5:13-25).
The LORD is waiting for His people to repent, pray, and seek His face, and turn from their wicked ways. He will hear from heaven, and heal their land (2 Chron. 7:14).
Paul wrote that "the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God...." (1 Thess. 4:16). These are the sounds of warning, and the sounds of warfare and victory. His coming will be sudden and when least expected, like a thief in the night. Are you ready?

The Voice of God
There are those today who mock faith in God. Those who believe are openly ridiculed for their belief. Many also scoff at the idea that the LORD speaks. He spoke in the past, and He still speaks today. To His prophet, Jeremiah, He said:
"Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Will ye not receive instruction to hearken to my words? saith the LORD...I have sent also unto you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Return ye now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other gods to serve them...but ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto me." Jer. 35:12-15 (excerpt)
Perhaps man mocks the concept that God has a voice, and speaks, in order to relieve ourselves of the responsibility of hearing and obeying:
"Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets. Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us...because we have sinned against him." Dan. 9:10-11
Because of their unbelief, man has looked upon prophets with great skepticism. However, the Word of God says, "Surely the LORD God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the LORD God hath spoken, who can but prophesy?" Amos 3:7-8
We are often stunned at the enormous calamities that have come upon the earth in recent times, but as Amos told us above, all of these things have been spoken by the LORD beforehand to His prophets. We have just refused to heed it. Many also choose to believe that the voice of God as spoken to His prophets remains in, and applies only to the past. However, the prophetic word is applicable especially to our current time:
"And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, and swear by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time (delay) no longer: But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets." Rev. 10:5-6
The words spoken to the prophets, recorded long ago, are appointed for even this present time. As the Word says, God does nothing without having declared it to His prophets. It has been further prophesied:
"And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last." Rev. 22:10-13
The above words of prophecy written around 70 A.D., are not sealed, or hidden, any longer, but revealed for all men to know and understand now, for this time.
The apostle Peter also identified the connection of the written words of the prophets to our present time:
"...I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: that ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation." 2 Pet. 3:1-4
Peter reminds the Church that it was said by the prophets that scoffers would mock the promise of the return of Christ, just as we see today. Peter taught that these scoffers would be ignorant by choice of the knowledge of the previous judgment by flood that destroyed the earth after the creation, and its continuing prophetic significance for the future. By the same word that brought that judgment by flood of water, the heavens and earth are now storing up fire for judgment. In choosing to ignore the truth regarding the past world-wide judgment by flood, the scoffers do not have to face the prospect of the prophesied world-wide judgment by fire. According to Peter, they also choose to believe that because God has waited this long to carry out that prophesied judgment, despite the prevalence of wickedness, that it will not come. Peter, however, warns against this kind of unbelief of the scoffers referring to both the heart of God, and His timing (v. 8). He warns us not to mistake the kindness and patience of God for weakness, or a failing to keep His word:
"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night...and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burnt up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness...?" 2 Pet. 3:9-11
Peter said that this prophetic word has been given to us so that we may be prepared for the coming events. The prophetic word, the voice of God, requires us to stir up our pure minds, not being conformed to the world's scoffing and unbelief, but transformed by that word, the voice of God, that we would walk in holy and Godly character. God, in His mercy, has provided more time also for those who have not yet been transformed by repentance in the face of His warning word given to the prophets.

There are prophets still prophesying the voice of the Lord today. They are not often accepted even by the Church, yet they, along with apostles and other ministers to the Church, have been provided by Christ, who is the Spirit of prophecy, to equip the Church, and to perfect the saints into the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ (Eph. 4:11-13). They are especially crucial to us in these last days. Will we hearken to the voice of God?

Our Role in the Days of Sodom
Jesus spoke of a spiritual unawareness and indifference to the judgment of God, especially as His coming draws near:
"Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus it shall be in the day when the Son of man is revealed." Lk. 17:28-30
Life went on as normal in Sodom, not acknowledging that utter destruction was about to fall.
The days we live in are very similar to the time of the destruction of Sodom-not only because we have followed after their sexual sins, but because our spiritual condition now is very much like theirs then:
"Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom (meaning "burning, conflagration"), pride, fullness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good." Ezek. 16:49-50
Since we can see how our current condition mirrors Sodom's, what is the role of the Church in these days?
First of all, not everyone is unaware of the real and present danger of impending judgment. The people of God are being warned by the prophetic voices and messengers that the LORD has placed in our midst, according to His specific promise and His foundational precepts:
"Surely the LORD God will do nothing, but He revealeth His secret unto His servants the prophets. The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the LORD God hath spoken, who can but prophesy?" Amos 3:7-8
We see this exact principle in the example of Sodom. As the time grew near for Sodom's destruction, the LORD made it a point to appear to Abraham in the form of three men, as Abraham sat in the door of his tent in Mamre (meaning "strength, vigor, the effort needed to hasten one's self or lift one's self up) at the hottest time of the day. As was the custom of that time, Abraham offered these strangers his complete hospitality, and bowed himself to the ground as a servant before them. Abraham then hastened and ran to provide the men with every comfort (Gen. 18:1-8).
At the close of this prophetic visit, the strangers began their journey to Sodom, as Abraham led them on the way. The LORD then asks this question, "Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do?" (v. 17). The LORD told Abraham that He had heard the cry from Sodom and Gomorrah, and the grievous sin, and He had come to see for Himself the truth of their sinful condition. Abraham delayed the LORD, and began to intercede with Him, asking Him if He would destroy the righteous with the wicked. As Abraham continued to intercede, he obtained the LORD's agreement down to the presence of just ten righteous in the city. The whole wicked city would be spared if there were ten righteous within it (Gen. 18:23-32).
On the other end of the story, Abraham's nephew Lot ("covering, veil"), living in importance in Sodom, also received the visit of the strangers with the same hospitality that Abraham had shown them. When the strangers had told Lot that he and his whole household must leave Sodom immediately, Lot went to tell his sons-in-law. They treated the urgent news as a joke, and refused to leave with Lot (Gen. 19:14). Even Lot sought to delay leaving the city. When morning came, the angels tried to hasten Lot, lest he be consumed in the iniquity of the city. Lot and his immediate family lingered still, and had to be dragged out by the angels of the LORD (Gen. 19:15-16). He then argued with the angels about how far he should retreat from the doomed city!
Our prophetic voices, and our warning messengers are telling us in the Church, that the day is drawing near when we will see calamity come upon another, modern-day Sodom that is present around us. Our role, like Abraham, is the role of intercessor. The LORD stops at our tent doors to give us just this same opportunity to delay Him, and entreat Him. Others may mock, and continue going about their daily lives as usual, but we should heed the warning, and hasten to enter into intercession with the LORD. Some, like Lot, sit in comfort in the midst of Sodom, not stirring themselves to intercede. They also receive the warnings, and the benefits of the intercession of others, but they do not act upon them with the necessary urgency and obedience.
The LORD knew He could depend upon Abraham, and the promised descendants that Abraham would teach in the ways of the LORD (Gen. 18:19). Is the LORD, with this same confidence, also able to depend upon us with His urgent business? This is our role in these days of Sodom.

Prayer of Intercession:
Heavenly Father, we reach out to touch Your arm, in order to intercede with You to cleanse us of all unrighteousness. Wash us in Your Word, and in Your Spirit. Purify and sanctify us by the blood of the Lamb. You have called us to be the righteous whose presence preserves the city. You have promised us that if we, Your people, who are called by Your name, humble ourselves, pray, seek Your face, and turn from our wicked ways, You will hear from heaven, forgive us, and heal our land.
As the day draws near for the revealing of the Son of man, we, Your people, desire to stir ourselves up, and fulfill the role that You have for us in this generation. In Jesus' name, we bring this intercession to You. Amen.
Prayer of Salvation for all who desire to receive Jesus as their Savior:
Jesus, I want to know You as my Lord, and as my Savior, who covers my sins, and cleanses my heart. Come into my heart, and also fill me with the Holy Spirit, who will lead me into all truth, and will teach me how to follow You. I believe that You are the Son of God, the Messiah, that You were crucified for me, and rose from the dead to give me everlasting life. I believe that You are coming again. Lord Jesus, in Your name I believe, pray, and receive all of these things. Amen.
At the close of this prophetic visit, the strangers began their journey to Sodom, as Abraham led them on the way. The LORD then asks this question, "Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do?" (v. 17). The LORD told Abraham that He had heard the cry from Sodom and Gomorrah, and the grievous sin, and He had come to see for Himself the truth of their sinful condition. Abraham delayed the LORD, and began to intercede with Him, asking Him if He would destroy the righteous with the wicked. As Abraham continued to intercede, he obtained the LORD's agreement down to the presence of just ten righteous in the city. The whole wicked city would be spared if there were ten righteous within it (Gen. 18:23-32).
On the other end of the story, Abraham's nephew Lot ("covering, veil"), living in importance in Sodom, also received the visit of the strangers with the same hospitality that Abraham had shown them.
