What If GOD Said, "BASTA!!"?

Lately, we have seen the word, "Basta!" appear in political comments, and people have been using the term more frequently in regard to other topics as well. The word is Spanish, and means, "Enough!", "Enough is enough!", "Stop!".
Recently, one preacher used the term in the following manner:
"God is saying, "BASTA!!".
Is this scriptural? It certainly is, and it could surely apply in the times in which we are living,  in the midst of the wickedness that is so prevalent. When has God said that He has had enough? Sadly, God has expressed this "enough" sentiment regarding His own people.
Paul, in discussing the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, relates an order of events that must come first:
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God; or that is worshipped...For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming."  2 Thess. 2:1-8 (excerpt)
The event that precedes the revealing of this man of sin, whom we call the Antichrist, is a falling away of believers from the truth of God. Once people fall away from the truth of God,  which is His word, the power, signs, and lying wonders of the wicked one, the "deceivableness of unrighteousness", is at work. Those who are condemned, refused to receive the love of the truth, so they are sent a strong delusion from God, that they would believe a (the) lie. The original lie is found in Genesis, when the serpent encourages Adam and Eve to question what God has said. "Yea, hath God said...?" (Gen. 3:1). This is described as "the fall of man". Here we have another "falling away". It starts with God's own people rejecting the truth, rejecting the Word, which is God, Himself. They believe not the truth because they have pleasure in unrighteousness (2 Thess. 2:12). Are we not seeing this very thing in this present time? Is God about to say, "BASTA!!"?
King Saul was commanded by God to completely destroy a wicked people, the Amalekites, who had historically made war continually against God's people. Saul did not obey, and then lied about his actions, finally blaming the people for his own disobedience. He then tried to justify himself by claiming he spared the goods of the Amalekites in order to offer them to God. The prophet Samuel corrected Saul saying,
"Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king."1 Sam. 15:22-23
God had had enough. No more chances, nor excuses accepted from Saul. He also told Samuel that he had mourned the fall of Saul for long enough (Basta, enough!)-there was a new king to anoint. This king would be a man after God's own heart-David.
As Israel carried out the feasts and offerings to God, God saw the unfaithful and unrighteous condition of their hearts. Their empty observances, and vain offerings became an abomination to Him:
"Your new moons, and your appointed feasts, my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them. And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood. Wash ye, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil."  Isa. 1:14-16
The LORD described their hands as covered in blood, and their indifferent behavior towards Him, and their abuse of the weaker among them, as unrighteous. If they repent, He will restore them. If they refuse and rebel, destruction will come upon them. (Basta, enough!)
To the prophet Jeremiah, the LORD said that He would no longer accept the spiritual wandering of His people. He gave this solemn instruction to His prophet:
"Pray not for this people for their good."  Jer. 14:11
Jeremiah told the LORD that the people were being duped by false prophets who were prophesying that all would be well, and that Judah would live in peace. Then the LORD said,
"The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart."   Jer. 14:14
"Then said the LORD unto me, Though (Even if) Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth."   Jer. 15:1
Today we are following the same pattern found in Jeremiah, in many ways. Those who have been appointed and anointed to edify the church into the unity of the faith, and the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, apostles, prophets, pastors, evangelists, and teachers, have been forsaken like Jeremiah. False teachers, and false doctrines have sought to replace the word of God with the convenient choices of men: the deceivableness of unrighteousness. Not all who are purported to be god, are the only true God. Not all that is called acceptable to man, is acceptable before God.The church is falling away, wandering, as God told Jeremiah.
Jeremiah described himself in a way that showed the foundational difference between himself, and the false prophets who were feeding deception to a people who were eager to accept it:
"Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts."  Jer. 15:16
Do we treat God's word as if it is a joy to our hearts? Or have we chosen, instead, the words of men, having pleasure in the unrighteousness approved by men?
The angel of the LORD appeared before John declaring that a seventh angel shall begin to sound his voice, that the mystery of God should be finished, as He declared it to His servants, the prophets (Rev. 10:7). This angel who appeared before John, lifted up his hand to heaven and swore by the Creator of all things, "...there should be time no longer." (v. 6).
Is God indeed saying to His people, "Basta! Enough!"?

An Easy Choice

Ronald Reagan, Jr., the son of the former president, leads an organization for the promotion of atheism, agnosticism, and secularization, or the removal of faith tenets from social and political issues. In one of his adds, Reagan, Jr. discusses his atheism and concludes with the statement, "...and I am not afraid of burning in Hell."
Believing in God, our Creator, is a choice that is presented to each of us:
"And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."    Joshua 24:15
Joshua issued this clear choice to Israel, and to each of us, and declared firmly his choice. You will serve something, according to Joshua. If you choose not to serve God, the Creator, you will serve another god, even if you delude yourself into thinking that you are serving no one but yourself.
The choice to believe in, and serve God, however, is really an easy choice:
"For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse."   Rom. 1:20
Creation shows the hand, the power, and the knowledge of the Creator. The physical elements have been arranged and combined in such an intricate complexity, it would be a greater stretch to deny the pattern of the awesomely brilliant design that is evident. We would have to believe instead that it is rational to think, for example, that a canvas dipped into a vat of mixed paints, could emerge as a da Vinci, or a Rembrandt.  Or perhaps a random collection of steel, aluminum, and fiberglass could, over time, arrange itself into an automobile. The very intricacy of the physical creation is for the purpose of putting the proof in front of us of the Creator, and the obvious choice to be made.
King David wrote that the very consideration of the creative work of God's hands brought David to the revelation of God's even greater creative purpose and accomplishment in man, though we are small, and seemingly insignificant in comparison (Psalm 8:3-6). The New Testament confirms this assertion:
"Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ...and he that believeth on Him shall not be confounded...But ye are  chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people: that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."   1 Pet. 2:5, 6, 9
We are not only a physical creation, but we are a spiritual creation. As we choose God, our Creator, and His Son as our salvation and restoration, we are also a "becoming", or changing creation, becoming that royal priesthood.
What of those who make the opposite choice, rejecting the knowledge of God? Scripture tells us that because of all of the evidence of the Creator before their eyes (see Rom. 1:20 above), they have knowingly, and willfully rejected the truth of that evidence:
"(They) changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen...And even as they did not retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient (prescribed, ordained, decreed, fit, becoming of);"   Rom. 1:25, 28
Because they purposefully make the choice to reject the truth of God as Creator, they also are changing and "becoming" something that reflects that rejection:
"...became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened...God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves...God gave them up unto vile affections...against nature...leaving the natural use...working that which is unseemly..."   Rom. 1:21, 24, 26, 27
Not only are their physical inclinations being changed, but their character, or inner man, becomes similarly twisted by the lie they have chosen. They become haters of God, disrespectful to parents, covenant breakers, covetous, malicious, full of envy, even murder, and more (Rom. 1:29-31). Though they know their behavior is worthy of judgment, they make the choice to reject the truth anyway because of the pleasure found in their behavior and rebellion. Even if they refuse it, however, God still continually stretches out His hand to them (Rom. 10:21, Isa. 65:1-3).
We see the fruit of the rejection of God described above, in every part of our society today.
Continuing to choose the lie instead of the Creator, will bring them to a certain end point, however. At that point, they will have to look into the face of the One whom they rejected. Facing total calamity instead, will be preferred by them:
"...and they shall say to the mountains, "Cover us"; and to the hills, "Fall on us."
                                                                        Hos. 10:8, Rev. 6:15-17
This is where our nation is. We are seeing the result of the choice to reject God. Even the Church is moving further away from God's outstretched hand, full of strife, and division, rejecting the words of our Creator that are inconvenient for us, or unpopular with others.
The choice is still before each of us. It is not yet too late. His hand is still stretched out to us. It is an easy choice to make. As for me, and my house, we will serve the LORD.
